  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address and general location data
  • Reading preferences and settings
  • Text-to-speech playback state and notification preferences where supported
  • Advertising identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID - AAID) for ad serving and analytics on mobile devices
  • Usage patterns and analytics

2.4 Device Permissions

To provide advanced functionality on our android app, we may request access to the following device permissions:

  • Microphone Permission: Used to record audio reviews and audio posts. Audio is recorded only when you actively trigger the recording feature.
  • Camera/Photo Library/Storage Access: Used to select and upload custom profile pictures, book cover images, or attachments for posts.
  • Notification Permission: Used to send push notifications for new follower activities, direct messages, collaboration requests, and media playback control notifications.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our Service
  • To create and manage your account
  • To enable you to read, listen to text-to-speech, write, save drafts, manage chapters, restore chapter versions, and publish content
  • To facilitate social features (following, testimonies, feed, reels, reviews, replies, messages, chats, and collaboration)
  • To host and play audio reviews and support replies to reviews or comments
  • To personalize your reading experience
  • To send in-app, push, browser, and media playback notifications where enabled
  • To communicate with you about updates and features
  • To ensure security and prevent fraud
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 Public Information

Your published works, public profile information, comments, replies, reviews, audio reviews, feed posts, and public collaboration details are visible to other users based on your privacy settings and the feature you use. Drafts and chapter version history are intended to remain private to authorized authors and collaborators unless published or shared by you.

4.2 Service Providers

We use third-party service providers including:

  • Google Firebase (for authentication and database hosting)
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (for app usage analytics)
  • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads (for serving and managing advertisements on our mobile app)
  • Vercel (for hosting)
  • Cloudinary (for image and media uploads)
  • Backblaze B2 / compatible storage providers (for audio review upload and playback storage)
  • Internet Archive (for accessing public domain books)

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect our rights and safety.

5. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using SSL/TLS
  • Secure authentication through Firebase Auth
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication requirements

Your data is stored on secure servers maintained by Google Firebase, which complies with international security standards.

6. Your Rights Under Indian Law

Under the DPDPA 2023 and IT Act 2000, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: You can access your personal data through your account settings
  • Right to Correction: You can update or correct your information at any time

7. Cookies, Local Storage and Device Storage

We use local and device-level storage solutions to enhance your experience by:

  • Remembering your login session
  • Saving your reader preferences
  • Maintaining your reading position
  • Supporting text-to-speech playback controls and notification state where available
  • Persisting your application state
  • Using local secure storage and mobile databases (such as Hive and shared_preferences) on our mobile app to store your offline drafts, cached books, and settings

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 14 for detailed steps), after which we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than India. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

14. Account and Data Deletion Request

At Wreadom (developed by S. Menaria), we value your privacy and give you full control over your personal data. If you no longer wish to use our Service, you can request the deletion of your account and all associated personal and content data at any time.

To request account and data deletion, please follow these steps:

  1. Send an Email Request: Send an email from your registered email address to our support team at contact@wreadom.in.
  2. Subject Line: Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request - [Your Username]".
  3. Specify Data to Delete: By default, we will delete your entire account including your profile information, reading history, bookmarks, saved books, and all uploaded content (books, comments, and reviews). If you wish to retain any published works under an anonymous pen name instead of complete deletion, please specify this in your email.

What happens after you submit a request?

  • Upon receiving your request, we will verify your identity to protect your account security.
  • Once verified, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted from our active databases and servers within 30 days.
  • Please note that some backups or legally required transactional logs may persist for a limited period to comply with local financial or legal obligations, after which they will also be permanently purged.
